Nature for health and inner peace

After almost forty years of research, it has been recognized, we can become healthier, happier, calmer and smarter just by being in nature. But not only that: closeness to nature reduces stress and depression, and can also provide inner strength, an existential foothold when life becomes difficult. People all over the world go to the forest or the sea, when they need to put life in a larger context, find meaning and be comforted. Japan's natural therapy "forest bath", which arose as early as the 1980s, scientifically showed these good effects even then, since then the concept and research has spread around the world. Nature can be a safe place. It's like we press the "off button on danger" when we are in a place we like in nature. Just sit there and take in what comes to you. It is extremely restful for the brain to avoid analyzing everything all the time. Avoid performing, slowing down and showing both the brain and the body that you are not in a hurry (Ottosson & Ottosson, 2020, Closer to Nature).
